"I hear, I see, I learn"
House of Belasco, or de Belasco, de Velasco, Velasco, Vazquez, Velazquez, and Vasquez and Vaz, is a large bender house with several branches, though all descend from the same ancestor.
Origins[edit | edit source]
The origins of this family are uncertain but the surname has developed from the ancient word of the pre 7th century words "vela or bela" meaning a crow, with the additional diminutive of "-sko" meaning little, which leads some to believe they descend from the Cinis, whose sigil is also a crown.
The family is Spanish, but of Basque origins, and also has branches in portuguese-speaking locations (Vasquez and Vaz).
